Here’s an inspiring video of tarot reader “Ocean” reading cards at the Deaf Hope Gala & Benefit in San Francisco. The reading begins about 30 seconds into the video:
You can read the transcript here. Ocean is an experienced reader and all the proceeds went to the cause. I loved seeing a reading interpreted in ASL.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Mary for sharing the Deaf Hope Tarot Reading video.
How interesting and amazing because I just emailed Marcus Katz a couple of days ago about doing an article on Deaf tarot readers. I thought it would make a wonderful article in Tarosophy magazine. I was so surprised to open up your newsletter and find that you had included this video. Wish I had been there! Oh, what fun! ASL is such a beautiful and expressive language.
I wrote a few days ago about how I am attending school to become a Sign
Language Interpreter and about your Tarot Constellations.book.
Well I better get to sleep as I have to study all weekend for an ASL exam for school. I want to excel and someday apply tarot with ASL.
Thank you again!
Love & Blessings!

Sherry – I think a lot of people will be thrilled that more people are using ASL and tarot. I’d think they’d be a perfect match, which was why I so excited to come across the video where you can see it in action. I even understand that there are quite a few blind tarot readers (not just clients!)—of course that’s a whole different skill.
I look forward to reading a future article.
