Dear Mary,
Good morning,
I have read your article on carl jung and it is interesting that he was skilled with the iching and the astrology would also find similarities in the tarot.
I would like seek permission to use your article as a reference when i write an article on carl jung on my blog.
Well a little bit about myself and my country.
In singapore, we have a very small community on tarot and we have started to meetup regularly once a month to give a show of tarot to people who are interested.
As for myself, i have been practicing and using tarot ever since i was 17. However, there is still a lot more i could understand.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Rowen

Thank you for sharing Carrie Paris’ Tarot in the Hand video. I love her divination and look forward to more of her talking tarot videos. Now I need to reflect on the cards I pulled while watching the video. Again, thanks!

Could you please help me with a question? I just started studying TAROT in a serious manner. I purchased a work book by Mary Greer. The classes I’m taking are with Prudence Theriault. Here is is my question: My Sun Sign is Gemini, My Moon Sign is Libra, My Rising Sign is Gemini. How do I find my Inner Teacher Card it’s the Court Card that corresponds with my moon sign. Next part is how do I find my Mode of Expression Card it’s the Court Card that corresponds with my rising sign.

JD –
The method for finding your Inner Teacher and Mode of Expression cards is in my book Tarot for Your Self, page 39 (2nd edition; page 17—1st edition).
Since your Moon is in Libra, you look on page 39 (or 17) where it says Libra, and you’ll see Queen of Swords next to it, so that’s your Inner Teacher card. Your Rising Sign is Gemini and Knight of Swords is next to Gemini, so that’s your Mode of Expression card, as well as your Personal Potential (Sun Sign in Gemini) card.
All three of these are Swords cards because Gemini and Libra are Air signs, and Swords, in this system, are Air.

Hi Mary,
. I read about the “rite of passage”, and having decided that it is time to strike out, I did some fishing for an event, and came back with a big bite! We will be doing a sold out charity event for over 200 attendees! As a Halloween Ball, we will be one of the main attractions I believe. My biggest question, is what type of spread do you suggest using (ie: Celtic vs. 3 card)? Also where on your site might I find the Reading Kit I have read about? I have only recently found your site, and have not visited every nook or cranny yet!
))
My name is Liza. My close friend and I have been studying the Tarot serriously for about a year. My bookshelf is lined with many of your books and they, along with R’achel Pollacks, have been my best assets in helping me learn and grow
Thank you so much for all of the wisdom you share!! Your books are truly a gem to me

Liza -
Am so glad that my books have been helpful to you. I am thrilled you will be taking the plunge and reading for charity as a step to professionalism.
With so many people attending, I suggest you keep your readings to 10 to 15 minutes. Some people can read a ten-card Celtic in this amount of time, but I suggest using a standard three-card spread. You can always draw more cards if needed. After reading the three-cards, formulate a question for clarification or to take the subject further, then fan the cards on the table and have the querent draw a card from anywhere in the fan. Here are several variations on the 3-card spread. Make one your “basic,” but practice a couple of others so that you can spontaneously use one if the question calls for it:
http://marygreer.wordpress.com/2008/10/23/three-card-spreads-the-essentials/
Be sure to read the comments to this post as there are great suggestions there.
The “Reading Kit” is whatever you personally need to have on hand for fairs and so is specific to you and the situation. I think that I’ve mentioned everything that I usually take along in the 2nd half of my post:
http://marygreer.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/suggestions-for-becoming-a-professional-tarot-reader/
plus there are additional suggestions in the Comments. Use these to come up with your own check-list. A container for most of these can be a tackle box, picnic basket or roller suitcase—whatever works!
Let us know how it works out in the comments section of the “Suggestions for Becoming a Professional Tarot Reader” post.
